After the birth of her first child Christy decided to become an assistant to women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Having experienced the unparalleled care she received from her midwives during her pregnancy and birth, she craved to be part of a woman’s transformation into motherhood. She trained with DONA (Doulas of North America) in 2009 and began practicing as a postpartum doula.

The segue from postpartum work into birth work was another obvious transition for her. During her second pregnancy she met Rose Mitchell-Tenerowicz, a birth doula, and the two of them immediately felt a connection to each other and to a greater purpose to support women during the childbearing years. They forged a bond and worked together for the first 4 years of Mother Powered Doula Services life. They continue to learn and grow from each other. Rose is now on the path to becoming a midwife. Christy is still holding space for women, navigating motherhood, and empowering women and families in the 518 as a doula.

She currently lives in Troy, New York in a house filled with y chromosomes.
